The name pays homage to an ancient portal from the 1500s, once part of a chapel on Via Maggiore in Laconi, belonging to the revered Don Nieddu, fondly called ‘Predi Nieddu’ by locals.

Born in 1945 as a traditional wood-fired bakery celebrated for its exquisite ‘Coccoeddos de coia’ (a symbol of weddings), it evolved into a modern steam bakery by 1960. Over time, it grew into a sprawling residential complex housing not only the Pisu family but also distant relatives, collaborators, a grocery store, and a hardware shop. The cellar today preserves this rich legacy through its iconic portal, vintage oven, pasta storage furniture, and recycled construction materials repurposed in crafting the Garden.
