Dolianova, a large center formed by the administrative union between the two villages of Sicci S. Biagio and S. Pantaleo dating back to the Giudicale period, whose nuclei
ancient connotations of the two distinct parish churches are clearly identifiable in the radial urban layout.
Both countries belonged to the Giudicato of Cagliari and were part of the curatoria of Parte Olla.
Along the main Corso Repubblica, which reaches the church of S. Biagio on the right, there are some rural houses, open to the road by the characteristic large arched portal in sandstone or in baked bricks.
In Dolianova there is the church of San Pantaleo, a Romanesque-Pisan building of considerable artistic interest, dating back to the 12th century. It represents one of the best preserved examples of the entire patrimony of the Romanesque-Pisan style of Sardinia (ecclesiastical rites are normally officiated in the church), as well as one of the most impressive. The richness of the internal and external decorations is particularly interesting, and the presence inside the church of a baptismal font of the immersion type, a sure testimony of the presence of an early Christian place of worship.
Archaeological findings testify to the presence of human settlements since prehistoric times, especially in the mountainous part, where it was easy to find refuge and go hunting. In Roman times there was the settlement of the Patulcenses Campani, presumably coming from Campania, mentioned in the Table of Esterzili and according to some authors localizable in the current Dolianova countryside.
