Sagama is an Italian town in the province of Oristano in Sardinia, in the ancient region of Planargia
It is located on a limestone hill overlooking the Badd'e Sagama valley where the verdant flora contrasts with the dark basalt stone
It is an independent municipality since 1946 and currently has about 200 inhabitants
The municipal territory of Sagama is historically fertile and luxuriant , with shady springs and woods that in autumn are filled with passionate mushroom hunters
The village of Sagama was built in prehistoric times, on a limestone step where the Muristene nuraghe was built
The present town develops around the so-called 'treasure of Sagama', the parish church of St. Gabriel the Archangel, built in 1604
While probably in the area where the seventeenth-century church currently stands there was a pre-existing pagan sanctuary
Inside the church there is a precious wooden statue of the saint, paintings of the eighteenth-century school, a seventeenth-century pulpit and wooden altars
The churches of Santa Croce and of the Virgin of Carmel are also worth a visit
