Sedilesu Giuseppe

IMG

The wine making tradition of the Sedilesu family started in the 1970s when Giuseppe and Grazia purchased their first hectare of vineyard. Today, the winery, located in Mamoiada, a small village of Barbagia in the centre of Sardinia, is managed by their son Salvatore and his family.

Even today wine growing and wine making are still faithful to tradition. All vineyards, the new as the oldest ones, are bush-trained and almost all the work in the vineyards is manual. Among the hills of Mamoiada, at altitudes between 650 and 850 m, in soils of decomposed granite, the Cannonau has found its ideal habitat.

The vineyards of the winery are almost all planted with Cannonau. Only on small plots are cultivated Granazza. Granazza is to be considered an autochthonous white variety that the winery has been enhancing since 2002 through the vinification of pure Granazza wines, with and without maceration.

Since its beginnings, the winery has been practising organic farming. Wines should be expressions of their territory. Therefore, the winery continues to traditionally practise spontaneous fermentation. The winery is organic certified. The annual production is about 100.000 bottles.
